Final Call For Entries In 11th District Congressional Art Competition

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Bill Foster encouraged students to submit entries to the Congressional Art Competition before the April 15, 2015 deadline.

"For years, this competition has highlighted the talent of young artists in our district," Foster said. "I look forward to seeing the artwork on display in my offices and in the tunnel of the Capitol building every time I go to vote."

About The Congressional Art Competition

Interested students should submit one original piece of two-dimensional work, which should be no bigger than 28" x 28" x 4" when framed. Entries can be dropped off at Congressman Foster's offices in Aurora or Joliet. Office locations and contact information can be found here.

**The deadline for submissions is April 15, 2015**

The artwork will be displayed in a temporary gallery space ending with a reception where the winner and three runners-up will be announced. The reception will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 10:00am at the Naper Settlement Visitors Center at 523 S Webster Street in Naperville, IL.

The U.S. House of Representatives has been spotlighting the nation's best student artists with an annual art competition since 1982. The winner will receive two round-trip tickets to Washington, D.C. for the unveiling of their work, which will hang in the Capitol complex for the next year. Three runners-up will be chosen and their artwork will be featured in Congressman Foster's offices.

The Competition is only open to high school students who reside in the Illinois 11th Congressional District or who are eligible to attend public high school in that district. Students can find out what congressional district they are in at https://www.house.gov/representatives/find/.
