Foster, Gosar Launch Congressional Inventions Caucus

April 29, 2015

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) and Paul Gosar (R-AZ) announced the formation of the Congressional Inventions Caucus.

The Congressional Inventions Caucus will provide a forum for inventors to showcase innovative products, have candid and balanced conversations about regulatory and legal barriers and other obstacles to economic growth, and educate members and staff about the innovation ecosystem. In addition, the Caucus will seek to provide a platform for inventors, startups, and businesses (large and small) to communicate with lawmakers in order to strengthen our competitiveness, foster economic growth, and promote innovation right here in America.

"As a scientist and businessman who has had a few inventions of my own, I believe it is important for lawmakers to think about what we can be doing to grow our innovation economy and support entrepreneurs," said Foster. "Inventors and innovators have always been an American hallmark. The Inventions Caucus will give members of Congress an outlet to embrace that history and foster discussion on how best to promote and strengthen American innovation."

Congressman Gosar added, "We need to get Americans to start dreaming again about the endless possibilities the future holds for innovation and technological advances. Today's generation of courageous creators share the same spirit and ingenuity of our forefathers who believed ideas were our nation's greatest resource. But first, we must return to nurturing an environment that encourages growth and development of our nation's inventors and entrepreneurs. I am proud to be a founding member of this caucus which will serve as an ally and friend to those who dare to believe their ideas can change the world."
