Press Release: Foster Announces House Passage of Bill to Name Aurora Post Office after Ken Christy

June 21, 2016

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) announced that the House of Representatives has passed legislation to designate the U.S. Post Office facility located at 525 N. Broadway in Aurora, Illinois, as the Kenneth M. Christy Post Office Building.

Ken Christy passed away suddenly on March 26, 2016. Christy spent over 35 years as a letter carrier for the Aurora Post Office, served as Aurora Township Clerk, and president of the Illinois State Association of Letter Carriers.

Congressman Foster introduced the bill to honor Christy in April, and it quickly received the support of the entire Illinois Congressional Delegation.

"Ken was a selfless and loyal friend, husband, father, and grandfather. He dedicated his life to advocacy on behalf of his fellow letter carriers and citizens," Foster said. "I am pleased that the House of Representatives passed legislation to honor his legacy. I hope the Senate will take it up in the coming weeks."
