Press Release: Foster Leads Call to Preserve Iran Nuclear Deal

March 7, 2017

Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) led a letter to President Trump with 59 of his colleagues urging the preservation of the Iran Nuclear Deal.

"The Iran Nuclear Deal has made the world a safer place by scaling back Iran's nuclear program," Foster said. "Before the deal, Iran was only two to three months away from acquiring the material for a nuclear weapon. As a result of the deal, it reduced its stockpiles of low-enriched uranium by 98 percent and has disconnected, removed, and placed two thirds of its installed centrifuges into IAEA-monitored storage."

Implementation of the Iran Nuclear Deal began on January 16, 2016. It was supported by more than 200 top scientists, American Ambassadors, national security experts, as well as Israeli intelligence and military officials.
