Congressman Bill Foster's Discussion On Fraud Prevention For Seniors

On Monday, February 23, 2015, the office of Congressman Bill Foster will host fraud prevention discussions in Aurora and Bolingbrook to help senior citizens learn how they can protect themselves from scams. These forums will give senior citizens and their families an opportunity to learn about fraud targeted at seniors and how to avoid becoming a victim.

Speakers will include:

  • Courtney Hedderman, Associate State Director of Advocacy and Outreach AARP
    • Courtney will discuss Medicare fraud and abuse, tips to prevent this type of fraud, how to spot it and how to report it. She will also introduce the Fraud Watch Network initiative.
  • Bill Hodor, Staff Attorney, Federal Trade Commission
    • Bill will discuss the trending scams targeting seniors, such as Grandparent Scams, Telemarketing Scams, IRS Imposters, and others. Bill will also talk about the Pass it On Campaign to help spread the awareness of fraud among seniors.
  • Richard Reeb, Operations Supervisor, Social Security Administration.
    • Richardwill discuss Social Security scams targeted at seniors.
