Transportation and Infrastructure Member Designated Project Requests (MDPR)

The Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure is accepting Member Designated Project Requests (MDPR) for consideration in 2021 Surface Transportation Authorization Legislation. This project is akin to the earmarks process that ended ten years ago, but under short time constraints and limited total dollar amounts. The Committee encourages projects that appear on a state (STIP) or local transportation improvement plan (TIP) from a state or metropolitan planning agency. The agency plans relevant to communities in the 11th District are prepared primarily by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP).

Please contact Maria Manzo, Senior Outreach Coordinator, at Maria.Manzo@mail.house.gov to submit requests and for updated guidance. The parameters are shifting as more information is being provided by the Committee. Requests must be provided to our office by April 16, 2021 to be considered. We will advise requestors whether their project is being submitted to the  Transportation and Infrastructure Committee as a Member Designated Project, however it will ultimately be up to the Committee which projects are funded through this process. The Committee must receive our complete submissions no later than April 23, 2021. The Committee is encouraging “projects that will help advance the goals of the surface transportation authorization legislation, which include building a safer transportation network, increasing access, strengthening our multi-modal transportation systems, reducing carbon pollution, enhancing environmental justice, supporting underserved communities, and improving state of good repair of our Nation’s infrastructure.”

Community Project Funding Requests
