JOLIET, Ill. —Joliet Junior College is receiving a grant from the federal government to help train veterans to re-enter the workforce.
Eleventh District Congressman Bill Foster's office announced the school has secured the $176,427 grant for its Driving America: One Veteran at a Time program.
The grant is administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Foster, a Naperville Democrat, says it's important to make sure veterans have all the tools possible to succeed when they come home from deployments.
Joliet Junior College's Driving America program provides veterans with training and job placement assistance. The grant will allow the college to train 50 new students to operate commercial motor vehicles, including buses and trucks.
