Rep. Foster Meets with Local Immigration Advisory Committee
Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) meet today with a diverse group of business and community leaders from the 11th district to discuss comprehensive immigration reform, including members from the Indian, Polish, African American and Hispanic Communities. Over the past few months, the Congressman has reached out to local leaders in order to form an immigration advisory committee that has helped him evaluate the potential impact of comprehensive immigration reform efforts on the 11th district. Committee members are currently helping Congressman Foster draft legislation, with the goal of getting it included in a comprehensive immigration package.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to discuss this important issue with so many leaders from our community,” said Foster. “Hearing from the people I serve is vital to doing my job right, and the feedback I have already received from constituents and the members of the advisory committee has been invaluable. I’m grateful that so many have been willing to share their thoughts and work alongside me to find solutions for our broken immigration system.”
The meeting was held in Congressman Foster’s Joliet Office at 11 AM on Saturday, July 17. While the committee has previously held several conference calls to discuss the specifics of immigration reform legislation, this was the first time that the committee meet in person. Congressman Foster and members of the advisory committee agreed to continue working together until comprehensive immigration reform becomes law.
