Foster Calls On Rauner To End Divisive Tactics, Stand With Middle Class
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster released the following statement on Governor Bruce Rauner’s efforts to prohibit the collection of “fair share” fees:
“I am disappointed that Governor Rauner is taking these divisive, partisan actions at a time when he should be extending a hand across the aisle to solve the serious issues facing Illinois. This does nothing to address Illinois’ budget problems and will only worsen the dysfunction in Springfield – perhaps the only government in the country with a lower approval rating than Congress.
"As a businessman who understands the value of a hardworking and well-appreciated labor force, I also know that our state and country can only succeed with a strong middle class. At a time when the middle class in Illinois is still recovering, this is a purely political move that will set back working families. Despite the economic progress we have made in recent years, the gap between the middle class and the wealthy continues to grow. Now, more than ever, we need to do all we can to grow and strengthen the middle class, not tear down working families.”
