Foster Condemns Trump’s Wall with Mexico and Anti-Immigration Policies

January 25, 2017

Washington, DC - I strongly condemn the construction of a wall with Mexico and any action that provokes fear into the lives of our immigrant communities. This wall is useless and antithetical to the core values of our country. Our country thrives on the innovation, culture, and diversity that immigrants from all walks of life bring to the United States. More than 40 percent of Fortune 500 companies were founded by immigrants or their children.

It is also fiscally irresponsible. According to reports, such a wall would cost anywhere between $15 and $25 billion dollars. That's money we can spend to rebuild our roads and bridges, improve our schools, and put people back to work.

Instead of looking inward to understand why he lost the popular vote, the President chooses to engage in debunked conspiracy theories of voter fraud and blame the hardworking men and women of this country who aspire to a better life for themselves and their families. If he wants to truly put America first, he will support immigrants and their families instead of demonizing them.
