Foster Extends Deadline For Congressional STEM Competition For 11th District Students

May 1, 2014

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Bill Foster announced the deadline for the Congressional STEM Competition has been extended to Friday, May 16th.

"As a scientist and businessman, I know how important it is that we encourage students to get excited about STEM education," said Foster. "I encourage all 11th District students to tap into their creativity and enter the Congressional STEM Competition."

This year marks the first annual Congressional Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Academic Competition. Established by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2013, the competition allows students from across the country to compete by creating and exhibiting their software application for mobile, tablet, or computer devices on a platform of their choice.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, May 16th, 2014. The winning application will be featured on the U.S. House of Representatives' website.

The competition is open only to high school students who reside in the Illinois 11th Congressional District or who are eligible to attend public high school in that district. Students can find out what congressional district they are in at https://www.house.gov/representatives/find/.
