May 8, 2013

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) and Congressman Randy Hultgren (IL-14) issued a joint statement honoring the life and sacrifice of Captain Brandon Cyr of the United States Air Force. Captain Cyr was killed in the Zabul province of Afghanistan when the MC-12 Liberty aircraft he was traveling in crashed on April 27, 2013. He was a former Oswego, Illinois resident and member of the 906th Air Refueling Squadron within the 375th Air Mobility Wing.

"Illinois has lost a gifted leader, exceptional pilot and true hero in Captain Brandon Cyr. My wife, Christy, and I extend our deepest sympathies to the Cyr family and to all whose lives Brandon touched,” said Hultgren. “We mourn with them and join the community to honor and celebrate Captain Cyr's life and distinguished service in the U.S. Air Force."

“Captain Cyr’s patriotism, commitment and service are an example to us all. He made the ultimate sacrifice for his country, and his legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of his friends and family,” said Foster.

Today a statement honoring Captain Cyr will be submitted to the Congressional Record. A full copy can be found here.
