Foster: Middle Class Relief Long Overdue

January 20, 2015

Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) released the following statement on the President's State of the Union address:

"The policies that President Obama outlined tonight – making college more affordable, investing in middle-class families, improving working standards, and closing tax loopholes used by the wealthy – return to the principles of the Greatest Generation that led to the strongest economic growth our nation has ever seen.

"As a scientist and businessman, I think it's important to look at facts and data when crafting policy, and on this issue the facts are clear: investing in the middle class leads to strong economic growth. I hope that Congress will act quickly to consider these proposals to provide overdue relief for middle-class families."

Foster brought Crest Hill educator Tara Linney as his guest for the State of the Union. Linney's focus is teaching educators and students about computer technology and coding. Foster and Linney highlighted the importance of technology education and coding in the classroom. More information is available here.
