Foster Sponsors Legislation To Reverse Cuts To Veterans’ Pensions

December 20, 2013

Aurora, IL – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) cosponsored the Military Retirement Restoration Act which would repeal cuts to cost-of-living adjustments (COLA) for military retirees that were included in the Bipartisan Budget Act. The repeal would be paid for by closing tax loopholes for corporations that set up headquarters in other countries to avoid paying US taxes.

"I voted for the Balanced Budget Act because I believed it was critical to avoiding another shutdown and because it begins to restore the harmful funding cuts from sequestration," said Foster. "However, I do not believe we should balance our budget on the backs of veterans and I am supporting this legislation to ensure our veterans get the full pensions they have earned."
