Foster Statement on Refugee Executive Order

January 31, 2017

Washington, DC - I strongly disagree with the order. It poses a grave threat to our values and our economy. Since 1975, zero people have been killed by terrorist attacks on American soil by immigrants from the seven countries affected by Trump's Executive Order, showing just how misplaced the priorities of the Trump Administration are. History has not looked kindly on us when we've prevented people fleeing violence from seeking refuge in this country. Our country thrives when people from all countries come here to build better lives, start businesses, and enroll in our schools.

I am proud to join my colleagues in introducing legislation to block the Trump Administration's travel and refugee ban. The SOLVe or Statue of Liberty Values Act would defund and rescind this order and prevent further harm to families and our national security.
