Foster, Takano Introduce Legislation To Establish National 3D Printing Day
Washington, DC—Today, Congressmen Bill Foster (IL-11) and Mark Takano (CA-41) introduced a House resolution to establish the 3rd of December as national 3D Printing Day.

"Advances in 3D printing are creating unprecedented opportunities for entrepreneurs and manufactures to develop new products and bring ideas to life. From bio-technology, to food production, to advanced manufacturing, 3D printing is creating endless opportunities for innovation. It's critical that we continue to develop this technology and recognize its importance in the modern economy," said Foster.
"Developments in the 3D printing industry are being led by American entrepreneurs, and we're just beginning to realize the impact this technology will have on our lives. Soon we'll see 3D printers in classrooms, at the office and in our homes, completely altering how we interact with the global supply chain. We should promote this technology widely to increase opportunities for innovation," said Takano.
By enabling rapid production of previously impossible, innovative products, 3D printing has the potential to spawn thousands of new businesses in the U.S. and give domestic companies an edge in global markets. The Department of Energy estimates that 3D printing can save 50% of energy use compared to more traditional manufacturing processes. Foster and Takano introduced this resolution to honor innovative technologies, such as 3D printing, that have the potential to jump-start advanced manufacturing in the United States.
