Foster Votes For Congressional Review Of Iran Agreement

May 15, 2015

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Bill Foster voted for H.R. 1191, the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015. The legislation, which passed 400-25, would give Members of Congress 60 days to review a finalized nuclear deal with Iran and prevent the President from lifting any economic sanctions imposed by Congress against Iran during that review.

"Congress serves as the voice of the American people, and as such, all Members of Congress should have the opportunity to review the final agreement with Iran," said Foster. "As the only physicist in Congress, I have studied this issue closely and received numerous technical briefings on Iran's nuclear capability. I will continue to closely monitor all available information as negotiators work towards a final deal by the June 30 deadline."
