Press Release: Foster Announces East Aurora School District 131 to Receive USDA Farm to School Grant
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) announced that East Aurora School District 131 has been awarded a Farm to School grant through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. This annual grant program provides funding to support the use of locally produced food in schools.
“I am pleased to announce that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has selected East Aurora School District 131 as a recipient of a 2017 Farm to School grant,” said Foster. “This program promotes healthy eating and helps to support the local economy by increasing the amount of locally sourced food served in schools. Students in District 131 will benefit from the enhanced nutritional choices that the Farm to School program makes possible. They will also learn more about the importance of sustainable food – not just for their own health – but for the local economy.”
East Aurora School District 131 is one of 65 organizations nationwide to receive a 2017 USDA Farm to School award.
