Foster Amendments in National Defense Authorization Act Pass House
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) issued the following statement following the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act:
“I supported the bipartisan National Defense Authorization Act because it provides critical support for our men and women in uniform, including a well-deserved raise. This legislation will ensure that our military is ready and capable to respond to threats to our national security.”
The three amendments Foster offered that were accepted will require:
- An independent assessment of nuclear forensic analysis conducted by the Federal Government and the President to provide to Congress a briefing on the involvement of senior-level executive branch leadership in recent and planned nuclear terrorism preparedness or response exercises.
- A report on the status of the Ballistic Missile Defense countermeasures test program that will include an evaluation and response to the 2010 JASON report titled “MDA Discrimination.”
- A report on costs relating to ballistic, cruise, and hypersonic defenses of the United States.
