Foster Introduces Legislation to Invest in Our Students and Our Economy
Washington, DC – This week, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) introduced the Partnerships for Progress and Prosperity (P3) Act to strengthen the classroom to career pipeline for American students by creating a grant program to promote educational partnerships between schools and employers.
The P3 Act would implement a grant program designed to strengthen the classroom-to-career pathway by fostering relationships between elementary and secondary schools, institutions of higher education, and STEM employers. These grant funds will also be used to place students in internships and apprenticeships in applied STEM fields, exposing them to career opportunities at an early age.
“American students are drastically underperforming in math and science compared to their international counterparts,” said Congressman Foster. “I am proud to introduce this bill to expand professional and educational opportunities for our students, so that they are better prepared to enter the workforce. If we want our economy to continue to prosper, we need to invest in our students and our educational institutions.”
