Foster Legislation Included in National Defense Authorization Act
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster’s legislation to strengthen national security was included in the final version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The NDAA includes the following amendments:
- An amendment to require an independent assessment of nuclear forensic analysis conducted by the National Academies.
- An amendment that will optimize the use of a waste disposal site used by the United States Army. A priority for Will County, the amendment will remove the federally-established closure date imposed upon the Prairie View Recycling and Disposal Facility, allowing the County to maximize the capacity at the facility and accept waste from the cleanup of the Joliet Army & Ammunition Plant beyond 2042.
- An amendment to require the Director of the Missile Defense Agency to deliver a report to the congressional defense committees on the status of their countermeasures test program.
- An amendment to require a report on costs relating to the ballistic missile defenses of the United States.
The National Defense Authorization Act is passed by the U.S. Congress annually to authorize funding for the United States’ military operations.
