Foster Statement on House Passage of Bipartisan Tax Bill
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) voted in favor of the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act to promote the financial security of working families, boost American competitiveness, and strengthen communities and small businesses. Specifically, this legislation will expand the Child Tax Credit and spur spending on research and development by businesses.
“Congress is at its best when it works in a bipartisan fashion on behalf of the American people, and this bill is a prime example. Nearly 600,000 children in Illinois, including 22,000 in my district, will benefit from the expansion of the Child Tax Credit, which is a lifeline for so many working and middle class families,” said Foster. “As a PhD physicist and businessman, I’m also proud of the incentives for R&D included in this bill, which will promote innovation – especially among small businesses – and help bolster our nation’s economic competitiveness and role as a technological leader. I urge the Senate to pass this legislation as soon as possible."
