Foster Statement on Being Named to Conference Committee for America COMPETES Act
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) released the following statement after he was named to the Conference Committee for the America COMPETES Act:
"It's an honor to be named to the America COMPETES Act Conference Committee. As a PhD physicist with over two decades working at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Illinois, and as a businessman who launched and grew a successful U.S. manufacturing business, I'll bring my unique experience in science, technology, innovation, and job creation with me to the Committee. I'll make sure voices from America's scientific and small business communities are heard in the final negotiations to get this legislation, which is vital to the long-term health of the U.S. economy, passed through Congress and signed into law."
The Conference Committee will include members from both the House and Senate, aimed at resolving the differences between the House-passed America COMPETES Act and the Senate-passed United States Innovation and Competition Act (USICA). The Committee's goal is to produce a final bill that can pass both the House and Senate and be signed by the President.
