Foster Statement on Bipartisan Budget Act

Jul 25, 2019
Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2019:

“I voted in favor of this strong, bipartisan budget agreement that is a rejection of the harmful cuts proposed in President Trump’s budget request. This agreement both enhances our national security and ensures critical investments in priorities for the American people. Notably, this agreement secures robust funding for scientific research – at places like Argonne National Laboratory and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory – so America can continue its leadership in research and innovation. I am pleased that this agreement also suspends the debt limit for two years and I will continue to work with my colleagues towards a permanent repeal that prevents the full faith and credit of the United States from ever being used as a negotiating tool, risking grave damage to our economy. I am pleased Congress has successfully fought back against President Trump’s disastrous budget proposal and I will continue to fight for budgets that reflect the priorities of hardworking Americans.”
