Foster Statement on Border Security and Immigration Reform Act
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) issued the following statement on his opposition to H.R. 6136, the Border Security and Immigration Reform Act:
“Once again, Republicans offered another piece of legislation that provided no solution to our immigration crisis. Like the other so-called ‘compromise’ bills, this bill would not have provided real protection for DREAMers. This legislation would also have provided nearly $25 billion for a wall along our Southern border. That is $25 billion we could use to grow the economy and strengthen our educational system.
I have heard from hundreds of constituents who want to see families reunited with their children. That is the crisis that deserves our attention. I will work with my Republican colleagues on legislation that will reunite parents with their children. This legislation is simply a waste of time.”
