Foster Statement on Passage of NO BAN Act
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the National Origin-Based Antidiscrimination for Nonimmigrants (NO BAN) Act:
“I was proud to vote in favor of the NO BAN Act which would immediately rescind President Trump’s racist Muslim Ban and amend federal immigration law to explicitly prohibit discrimination based on religion. From day one of his administration, Trump has attacked immigrant communities with bigoted rhetoric and cruel policies, and it is time that Congress take a stand for the principles our nation of immigrants was founded upon.
“I am proud to represent a District that is home to vibrant immigrant communities and that embraces the diversity that makes us stronger. I will continue to stand up against this xenophobic President and work to protect immigrants from policies designed to instill fear.”
