Foster Statement on SBA Disaster Declaration for DuPage County

July 16, 2021

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) issued the following statement after the U.S. Small Business Administration approved a disaster declaration for DuPage County communities impacted by last month's tornado:

"The SBA's disaster declaration for DuPage County is excellent news, and it will go a long way to help individuals and small businesses recover and rebuild from the damage of last month's violent tornado. I'm proud that our effort to get the federal government to provide disaster relief was bipartisan and joined by public officials from across our state – proving that in Illinois, we know how to work together in times of need. It has not always been easy for Illinois to be treated fairly in federal disaster declarations, and I'm thankful for the support of my fellow Members of Congress, Governor Pritzker, DuPage County officials, and the Small Business Administration for all the work that went into getting this done on behalf of our constituents."

Last Friday, Congressman Foster joined 15 other Members of the Illinois Congressional delegation urging the SBA to approve the disaster declaration.
