Foster Statement on Vote in Favor of Appropriations Agreement
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed two spending packages covering all 12 appropriations bills for fiscal year 2020.
“This bipartisan appropriations agreement is a massive improvement over the original budget proposed by the Trump Administration. House Democrats were able to secure critical investments in public health, early childhood education, election security, and environmental protections. It also provides robust funding for scientific research, including vital research that will help us battle the epidemics of opioid use and gun violence, and it provides continued resources for the cutting-edge work being done at Argonne National Laboratory and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Illinois.
“In addition, this package ensures that the 2020 Census is fully funded – an important victory for making sure communities in the 11th District are accurately counted and receive their fair share of federal spending.”
