Foster Statement on Vote to Avoid Government Shutdown

December 20, 2024

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) issued the following statement after the House passed the end-of-year continuing resolution:

“I’m relieved that a bipartisan majority came together to keep the government open and working for the American people. But let’s be clear: This was not the bipartisan agreement that was negotiated in good faith. Though disaster was avoided this time, it’s disturbing that so many Republicans seem more interested in following orders from an unelected billionaire rather than doing what’s in the best interest of their constituents. Not a good sign for the new Congress.”

The bill now heads to the Senate for final passage.
