Press Release: Foster Announces Science and Technology Fellow
WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) announced that Yasmeen Hussain will join his Washington, DC office. She is sponsored by the Biophysical Society as part of the Congressional Science & Engineering Fellows Program that is managed by the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Hussain completed her doctorate in Biology at the University of Washington and recently worked with the Board on Higher Education and Workforce at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
“I am proud to have Yasmeen join my office in Washington, DC,” Foster said. “Now more than ever, we need scientists who are willing to spend time in public service and learn what it takes to improve policy in the federal government and U.S. Congress. We need scientists and their technical expertise to help lawmakers understand the new challenges we face now and in the future. This program is a great opportunity for scientists to learn about the legislative process and to offer their scientific knowledge to improve our legislation. I am grateful for the work that AAAS does to advance science and technology in policymaking.”
The Science and Technology Policy Fellowship places scientists in Congressional offices to provide professional development and help individuals with scientific background make meaningful contributions in the federal government with their expertise. More information is available here.
