Foster Statement on Opposition to Immigration Legislation
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) issued the following statement on his opposition to H.R. 4760, the Securing America’s Future Act:
“I opposed this legislation because it did not provide real solutions to our current immigration crises. It would have exacerbated the current humanitarian crisis on our border as children continue to spend the night in metal cages away from their parents. It also did not provide a solution to the hundreds of thousands of DREAMers.
I am ready and willing to work with my Republican colleagues on legislation that provides a pathway for law-abiding DREAMers to become full citizens of this country, reunite children who were separated from their parents, and ensure that our country remains a land of opportunity for all. But this legislation was a step in the wrong direction.”
