Joliet, IL – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) announced that the University of St. Francis will receive an award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) in the amount of $649,677. The funding will be provided through the NSF's Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S-STEM) program and will help support the university with retention and graduation of high-achieving, low-income students with demonstrated financial need.

Washington, DC – This week, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) introduced H.R. 7295, the Medical Records Access Fairness Act. The bill would require health care providers to give patients access to their medical records at no cost once per year if they need them. According to the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office, fees that doctor offices may charge patients can impose an unnecessary financial burden on patients who request them, potentially affecting patient care adversely.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) introduced H.R. 7189, the Expanding Transparency of Information and Safeguarding Toxics (EtO is Toxic) Act of 2018. The legislation would require the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to publish its Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) and its National Air Toxic Assessment (NATA) assessments in the Federal Registry where it would be accessible to state and local health agencies, other federal agencies, and international health organizations.
