Infrastructure and Transportation

Reliable and safe infrastructure drives economic growth and is vital to our communities. One of my top priorities is making sure that Illinois receives its fair share of federal resources, especially funding to strengthen our state’s transportation infrastructure.
Smart investments in infrastructure yield very large returns on investment for the federal taxpayer. Underinvestment in infrastructure is detrimental to economic growth and job creation. I believe it is critical that we continue to invest in infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and railways, to support efficiency and safety.
In 2021, I was proud to vote for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law - the largest investment in American infrastructure in decades - and I am proud that thanks to that law, Illinois communities, including those in IL-11 are receiving much-needed funding to improve transportation infrastructure.

The Fox Valley Park District will get $4 million in federal funds to build a bridge linking bike paths on both sides of the Fox River.
The money will go to a bike and pedestrian bridge in Lippold Park, in Batavia along the East Bank of the river, to connect with the bike and pedestrian path along the West Bank of the river.
The money is from the federal Community Funding Project, and was secured by the office of U.S. Rep. Bill Foster, D-Naperville. It was one of 15 projects funded through Foster’s office - the entire 15 that his office proposed.
The Fox Valley Park District and our Board of Commissioners remain committed to trail connectivity with the end goal of linking cyclists and pedestrians from Points A to B – throughout the District’s 48-mile network – without the need for dismount or detour. Thanks to Congressman Bill Foster and his office’s advocacy of this ongoing initiative, a significant gap will be bridged (quite literally) to connect two sections of the popular Fox River Trail in North Aurora.
