Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) introduced the Medical Records Access Fairness Act, which would require health care providers to give patients access to their medical records at no cost once per year if they need them. According to the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office, fees that doctor offices may charge patients can impose an unnecessary financial burden on patients who request them, potentially affecting patient care adversely.
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) introduced H.R. 4645, the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Inclusion Act, to assist those who forgo potentially lucrative careers to serve the public good. Bill Foster (D-IL) and Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX) introduced the Keep STEM Talent Act to provide lawful permanent resident status for certain advanced Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) degree holders. The bill would allow graduates with advanced STEM degrees to remain in the United States following their graduation and would remove barriers for STEM-educated international students who want to work in the United States. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) has introduced companion legislation in the Senate.
