Eleventh District Congressman Bill Foster's office announced the school has secured the $176,427 grant for its Driving America: One Veteran at a Time program.

Washington, D.C.—Today, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) announced Joliet Junior College has been awarded a grant in the amount of $176,427 to support their work to provide veterans with training for high-demand jobs. The money will support Joliet Junior College’s “Driving America: One Veteran at a Time” program. The grant is awarded through the Department of Transportation.

“On this day 49 years ago, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act into law—one of the greatest steps forward for civil rights in the history of our country. In April, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) released its annual report to Congress highlighting opportunities to reduce potential duplication in government programs, save tax dollars and enhance revenue.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) released the following statement on the bipartisan Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013, which passed with a vote of 68-32 in the Senate:
“I am very pleased to see the strong bipartisan support in the Senate for passing a comprehensive package that includes a plan to secure our borders, a path to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented immigrants already in the country, and a more secure and efficient system for legal immigration.
Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) greeted veterans at the World War II Memorial. The group included veterans from Will, DuPage and Kane counties.
"I was proud to take part in this special day to honor and celebrate our veterans," said Foster.

In a 5-4 ruling, the Supreme Court determined DOMA to be unconstitutional.

If no action is taken before July 1, student loan interest rates will double, jumping from 3.4% to 6.8% for federally subsidized student loans. This is the last week for Congress to take action before the rate increase takes effect.
