Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) called President Obama's announcement of executive actions to curb gun violence "an important step."

"The actions announced by President Obama are an important step to curb the tragic epidemic of violence that is tearing apart communities," said Foster. "The President's proposals will improve background checks, increase enforcement, expand access to mental health care and drive research into gun safety."

Aurora, IL – Congressman Bill Foster announced his office has recovered over $1.3 million for constituents in 2015.

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) voted for the Omnibus Appropriations bill to fund the government through fiscal year 2016.

"While I am disappointed that House Republicans once again took our government to the brink, I'm pleased that we were finally able to reach a reasonable, bipartisan agreement and avoid a government shutdown," said Foster. "This bill includes increases in funding for several important priorities, including education, infrastructure, and medical research."

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) voted against the Tax Extender package, an unfunded collection of tax breaks that would increase the deficit by $622 billion over the next ten years – and an estimated $2 trillion over the next 20 years.

Washington, DC – Today, Representatives Bill Foster (IL-11), Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) and 13 Members of Congress sent a bipartisan letter to Speaker Ryan asking for his support for the Office of Technology Assessment (OTA). Congress created the OTA in 1972 to provide Congress with nonpartisan analysis of scientific and technical issues, but closed when it was defunded in 1995.

Washington, DC – Today, Representatives Bill Foster (D-IL) and Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) sent a bipartisan letter highlighting efforts to encourage girls to develop skills in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Recently, the Girl Scouts of Orange County STEM Consortium created the My STEM Life badge to encourage girls to consider careers in STEM.

Washington, DC – Today, Representative Bill Foster (IL-11) sent a letter signed by 61 Members of Congress urging the House Appropriations Committee to ensure robust funding for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The IAEA is the organization tasked with verifying that states comply with their commitments under the Non-Proliferation Treaty and other non-proliferation agreements. The IAEA is responsible for ensuring successful implementation of the nuclear agreement negotiated with Iran earlier this year.

Seated with them at the dinner table was U.S. Rep. Bill Foster, D-Naperville. Foster came to their home – along with several members of the media – to discuss immigration programs that would have benefited Pedro Flores, the father of the family, who is an undocumented immigrant.

Joliet, IL – Today, Congressman Bill Foster announced that over $3.2 million in grant funding from the Department of Health and Human Services will be awarded to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Joliet, Inc., for the continuation of the organization's Head Start and Early Head Start programs that serve 750 families in the Joliet Area.

Washington, DC – Today, Representative Bill Foster (IL-11) voted for the conference report on Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act. The act is the first long-term transportation bill passed by Congress in over a decade and will fund transportation projects for the next five years. The measure, which authorizes $281 billion in funding, will now go to the Senate for a final vote.

While Foster voted for the measure, he expressed disappointment that the final bill did not include the Foster Payer Statement Amendment that was included in the original House bill.
