JOLIET – U.S. Congressman Bill Foster, D-Naperville, is stepping up the fight against the deadly opioid epidemic sweeping Illinois and the rest of the nation.
Chicago, IL – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) met at Chicago O'Hare International Airport with Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), Mayor Rahm Emanuel, TSA Administrator Peter Neffenger, and representatives from key airlines. The meeting was convened to discuss what actions are needed to address growing delays at airport security lines.
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) introduced H.R. 5287 - the Medicaid Coverage for Addiction Recovery Expansion (CARE) Act – a bill that would expand access to treatment for people who are struggling to receive the addiction care they need.
This measure would help thousands of people across the country, including 2,000 Medicaid beneficiaries in Illinois who receive treatment for substance abuse and addiction each year.
Aurora, IL – Last night, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) hosted a telephone town hall discussion about the growing opioid epidemic and the legislative initiatives he is working on to address it.
Over 4,000 residents of the 11th Congressional District joined the call, and several had the opportunity to ask questions.
Washington, DC – Last night, in a unanimous vote, the House of Representatives passed the Examining Opioid Treatment Infrastructure Act, a bill that will allow for better collection of data to address the opioid epidemic.
H.R. 4982 was introduced by Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) and directs a GAO study of in-patient and out-patient addiction treatment capacity and availability in the U.S. as well as an assessment of the need for this treatment capacity.

Joliet, IL – Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) has announced the winners of the 2016 Congressional Art Competition from the 11th Congressional District.
"I am really impressed by the skill and creativity displayed by the students who took part in this year's competition," said Foster. "It had to be a difficult task for the judges to pick just a few winners, but I think the pieces they chose are going to look great hanging on the walls of the Capitol and in my offices in Washington D.C., Aurora, and Joliet."
Washington, DC – On Friday, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) took to the floor of the House to honor the memory of the thousands of Americans who have been lost to heroin and opioid addiction.
Foster has introduced legislation to combat the opioid epidemic and has led support for President's Obama's budget request of increased funding for opioid abuse prevention and treatment programs.

Washington, DC – In a letter to House Republican leadership, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11), Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (CA-19), and over 90 of their Democratic House colleagues called for an end to the Republicans' Select Panel to Investigate Planned Parenthood.
Washington, DC – On Wednesday, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) spoke on the floor of the House in honor of Ken Christy – a long-time letter carrier for the Aurora Post Office and an active community leader who was serving as president of the Illinois State Association of Letter Carriers at the time of his unexpected passing.
Congressman Foster has introduced a bill to rename the Aurora Post Office building in Christy's honor.
