Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) and Congressman Sean Casten (D-IL) led a bipartisan letter to House leadership urging equitable per-capita distribution of funds to states in any future stimulus package. The CARES Act was an essential step to protect Americans and support our economy, but because the Senate incorporated a very inequitable spending formula for emergency grants to states and municipalities, the CARES Act left large-population states with fewer resources than their smaller-population counterparts. The letter was signed by 50 Members.

Washington, DC – Yesterday, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) and Congresswoman Donna Shalala (D-FL) led a letter to the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration urging them to speed up the evaluation and approval process for a COVID-19 vaccine, and to prepare for a more rapid deployment to the public. Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) introduced the Closing the Digital Divide for Students Act to expand broadband access for low-income families in HUD-assisted housing and to ensure that more students have the opportunity to succeed in school. This bill would allow families who live in HUD-assisted housing, whose children qualify for free or reduced lunch, to use federal assistance on broadband internet access.
