In a 5-4 ruling, the Supreme Court determined DOMA to be unconstitutional.
Washington, D.C. – Today, Representatives Tammy Duckworth, Bill Foster and Brad Schneider are calling on Congress to take action to stop the student loan interest rate increase. If no action is taken before July 1, student loan interest rates will double, jumping from 3.4% to 6.8% for federally subsidized student loans. This is the last week for Congress to take action before the rate increase takes effect.

“Congress needs to pass a farm bill that will provide certainty to Illinois farmers and reform outdated programs. Unfortunately, House Republican Leadership chose to include in this legislation unconscionable cuts to food assistance programs, which millions of families rely on.
The proposed cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP are tucked into the Farm Bill, now being debated. A vote is expected in the next hour or so.
