Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) called President Obama's announcement of executive actions to curb gun violence "an important step."
"The actions announced by President Obama are an important step to curb the tragic epidemic of violence that is tearing apart communities," said Foster. "The President's proposals will improve background checks, increase enforcement, expand access to mental health care and drive research into gun safety."

"While I am disappointed that House Republicans once again took our government to the brink, I'm pleased that we were finally able to reach a reasonable, bipartisan agreement and avoid a government shutdown," said Foster. "This bill includes increases in funding for several important priorities, including education, infrastructure, and medical research."

Congress created the OTA in 1972 to provide Congress with nonpartisan analysis of scientific and technical issues, but closed when it was defunded in 1995.

Recently, the Girl Scouts of Orange County STEM Consortium created the My STEM Life badge to encourage girls to consider careers in STEM.
Washington, DC – Today, Representative Bill Foster (IL-11) sent a letter signed by 61 Members of Congress urging the House Appropriations Committee to ensure robust funding for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The IAEA is the organization tasked with verifying that states comply with their commitments under the Non-Proliferation Treaty and other non-proliferation agreements. The IAEA is responsible for ensuring successful implementation of the nuclear agreement negotiated with Iran earlier this year.
