Gun Violence Prevention

The gun violence epidemic in America continues to shatter communities large and small across our country, including in our district. In 2022, I was proud to vote for sensible, bipartisan gun violence legislation - the first such legislation to pass Congress in over 30 years - but much more needs to be done.
I support banning military-style assault weapons that are designed to kill as many people as possible in seconds. It is not a coincidence that they are the weapon of choice for mass shootings, and they have no place in our communities. I also support universal background checks so that we can keep guns out of the hands of people that should not have them.
Overwhelming majorities of Americans support common sense reforms that will help save innocent lives. I will continue to work in Congress to find bipartisan agreement on sensible legislation to do just that.

The group was there in protest of the recent wave of mass shootings in the U.S. and to urge elected officials to take action. The crowd chanted "enough is enough," "end the violence now," and "no more guns."
