Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) and Congressman Ted Deutch (D-FL) re-introduced the Immigrant Detainee Legal Rights Act. The legislation would require immigration detention centers to inform immigrant detainees of their legal rights within five days of their arrival at the facilities. It would also require the Attorney General to develop and implement legal orientation programs in every detention center that houses immigrants.

The bill would mandate public companies periodically share political spending information with their shareholders.
Washington, DC – This week, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) re-introduced the Well-Informed, Scientific, & Efficient (WISE) Government Act to better equip federal agencies with the scientific literature necessary to make well-informed policy decisions. This legislation would require the Government Services Administration to work with the Library of Congress, agency libraries, and government information services to identify ways to make accessing scientific literature more efficient and to identify short and long-term solutions.
Washington, DC – This week, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) reintroduced a bill to designate the U.S. Post Office facility located at 303 E. Mississippi Ave. in Elwood, Illinois, as the Lawrence M. "Larry" Walsh Sr. Post Office Building.
Larry Walsh Sr. passed away last June at the age of 72 after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. Walsh Sr. spent decades serving the Will County community in public office, including as an Illinois state senator and as Will County Executive – an office he held from 2004 until his death.
