Washington, D.C. – Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) is joining Democratic members of the Financial Services Committee in calling for an inquiry into the Target data breach that led to personal information, including credit and debit card accounts, being compromised for millions of Americans.

Washington, DC -- Congressmen Bill Foster (IL-11) and Ted Deutch (FL-21) introduced the Deutch-Foster amendment to end the costly and inhumane practice of imposing arbitrary immigrant detention requirements. The amendment to the FY 14 Omnibus Appropriations Bill was rejected by the Republican controlled Rules Committee.

The legislation would strike language in the appropriations for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that requires Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to have at least 34,000 immigrants in detention at all times.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) introduced H.R. 3856, the Homeowners Debt Relief Extension Act. The legislation would reduce the tax burden for underwater homeowners by extending the Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act of 2007.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) and 48 freshmen Members of Congress are calling for an immediate vote in the house to extend emergency unemployment insurance. On December 28^th, 1.3 million people, including over 80,000 in Illinois, lost their unemployment benefits.

Aurora, IL – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) cosponsored the Military Retirement Restoration Act which would repeal cuts to cost-of-living adjustments (COLA) for military retirees that were included in the Bipartisan Budget Act. The repeal would be paid for by closing tax loopholes for corporations that set up headquarters in other countries to avoid paying US taxes.
