"This is an important moment for civil rights in Illinois. I am very pleased that Illinois has joined 15 other states in allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry. Everyone – no matter who they are, where they came from, or who they love – deserves equal rights under the law."

“I am very pleased that the MPO Policy Committee voted to include the Illiana Expressway in the GO TO 2040 plan. The Illiana is a much needed investment to provide relief to the communities that are bearing the brunt of freight traffic in the region, support ongoing economic development and create jobs.

“While I am disappointed that extreme and irresponsible factions in Congress were able to force a costly and harmful government shutdown, I am very pleased that more rational and moderate Members of Congress were able to reach a bipartisan agreement to reopen our government and pay our bills. While today was a step in the right direction, our work is far from done.
Washington, DC— In a joint letter, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11), Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) and Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-2) urged the members of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) to include the Illiana Expressway in the GO TO 2040 plan.

Washington, DC— Today, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11), along with Congressman Patrick Murphy (FL-18), introduced the Shutdown Prioritization Act (SPA) which would force Speaker Boehner to remove the Members only gym and spa from his list of essential House services.
“Members of Congress should not enjoy access to their exclusive gym and spa while Capitol police go without pay, children are being turned away from Head Start and veterans are left wondering if their benefits will come in the mail on November 1st,” said Foster.
Washington, DC— Today, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) announced he will be donating his pay earned during the government shutdown to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.
“Because of a small group of intransigent Tea Party extremists, Congress has failed to pass a budget and shutdown the government – a reckless action which could have a devastating impact on our still struggling economy,” said Foster. “Until Congress ends this irresponsible shutdown, I will donate my pay to charity.”
