Washington, DC – Congressmen Bill Foster (IL-11), Ted Deutch (FL-21) and 52 Members of Congress are calling on the Administration to oppose the detention bed mandate as they complete the President's Fiscal Year 2016 budget request. The detention bed mandate is a costly and inhumane directive in the appropriations for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that requires Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to have at least 34,000 immigrants in detention at all times.

Foster joins Members of Congress speaking out against anti-immigrant legislation

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) voted against H.R. 3, which would circumvent the approval process for the Keystone XL Pipeline.

"I am not opposed, in principle, to the building of the Keystone XL pipeline, and today's determination by the Nebraska Supreme Court was a step in that direction. I look forward to the completion of the regulatory approval process for this project. However, I voted against this legislation because it would give Keystone XL an unnecessary exemption from the environmental permitting processes," said Foster.

"It's an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to continue to represent Illinois'11th Congressional District," said Foster. Washington, DC – Today Congressman Bill Foster voted for the FY 15 Omnibus Appropriations bill.

"While there were some provisions in this package that I do not support, I voted for the final bill because we cannot continue to govern from crisis to crisis," said Foster. "I am pleased that this bill preserves most essential funding for scientific research and development, increases funding to combat Ebola, increases funding for the National Institutes of Health, and preserves funding for Head Start and other essential programs."

Washington, DC – Today the House passed a provision, championed by Congressman Bill Foster, that would enable Argonne National Laboratory to save millions of dollars by finally removing on-site nuclear waste.

"This commonsense provision will save taxpayer dollars and allow Argonne to devote more funding to research and development," said Foster. "Research done at Argonne, and all of our national labs, is critical to maintaining our innovative edge in the global economy."
