WASHINGTON, DC - I opposed the Republican Tax Plan, because it is a massive Christmas gift to large corporations and wealthy campaign donors that is paid with more than $1 trillion in new debt that our children must repay in the future. Hardworking Illinois families will be hit especially hard, a cruel blow on top of the $40 billion that Illinois already loses every year because our state pays far more in federal taxes than we receive back in federal spending.

WASHINGTON, DC - This resolution is yet another last minute stopgap measure that fails to provide solutions that hardworking Americans need from the people who represent them. We still have a long list of priorities to resolve. Congress has not voted on the DREAM Act to allow individuals who were brought to the United States through no fault of their own to stay in the country. We need to provide funding to combat the opioid and heroin crisis, and we need to stabilize health care marketplaces so that premiums do not skyrocket.

WASHINGTON, DC - I absolutely condemn sexual assault and sexual harassment. No one should have to work in a professional environment where this kind of behavior is condoned. Whether it's the disgusting and disturbing events in Alabama or the events with Senator Franken, Congressman Conyers, and President Trump, any type of this behavior is unacceptable. Anyone engaging in sexual harassment or assault must be held accountable, and I think Senator Franken and Congressman Kihuen should step down. It's clear that the U.S.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) and Congressman Mark Takano (D-CA) introduced a House resolution to designate December 3 as National 3D Printing Day. The resolution would also recognize the positive economic impact of 3D printing in the United States and encourage the promotion and celebration of 3D printing technology.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) led a letter of congratulations with 17 members of the Financial Services Committee to acting Director Leandra English at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Former Director of the CFPB Richard Cordray appointed English to the Deputy Director position last week after he announced his resignation. The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act specifies that the Deputy Director becomes the acting Director in the absence of a Director confirmed by the Senate.

WASHINGTON, DC - I opposed the Republican tax plan because it will raise taxes on middle class families in Illinois, slash Medicare by 25 billion dollars next year, and pass on trillions of additional debt for our children to pay – all in order to provide massive permanent tax breaks for large corporations and the very wealthy. Rather than an honest attempt to simplify and reform our tax code, this bill is an excuse to give wealthy families and their children a permanent tax break while increasing the national debt by trillions of dollars.

JOLIET, IL – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) announced that Joliet Junior College has been awarded a National Science Foundation grant in the amount of $649,901.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL), Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), and Congressman Mark Takano (D-CA) introduced the bipartisan GI Education Benefits Fairness Act. This legislation would align definitions of an eligible child in the Veterans Administration and Department of Defense for the purposes of the education benefit transfer.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) called on Scott Pruitt to rescind a directive to remove scientists from the Environmental Protection Agency's advisory boards in a bipartisan letter signed by 61 Members of Congress. Last week, Scott Pruitt announced that scientists who received grants from the EPA could not serve on the EPA's science advisory boards. These advisory boards inform regulations through the technical expertise these scientists provide.

WASHINGTON, DC - The opioid crisis touches every community in the United States, including my district in Illinois. To stop it, we need multifaceted solutions. The report's broad and inclusive recommendations provide a good blueprint for action. If President Trump and his administration are serious about ending this crisis, they must invest in treatment programs, medical research, and science funding to help individuals who suffer from opioid dependency.
